Let's Ask Hymie ...
BEHIND THE BAR

The Basic Tools -- Glassware.

Whether you're stocking a home bar or working as a professional bartender, you'll need the basic tools behind the bar to mix, serve and store your alcohol and garnishes.
  1. Shot glass (also for measuring)
  2. Cocktail or Martini Glass
  3. White Wine Glass (smaller size)
  4. Red Wine Glass (wider bowl)
  5. Champagne Glass (tapered for bubbles)
  6. Rocks Glass (known as Old Fashioned Glass)
  7. Highball and Collins Glasses (most versatile)
  8. Cordial Glass (also for straight-up drinks)
  9. Brandy or Cognac Snifter (short for cupping in hands)
Note:  At a home party to keep the selection small, you can simplify by using two types of glasses: a white wine glass and a red wine glass.  Both can be used for every type of cocktail plus beer and wine.  Using them makes cleaning and storing your glasses less complicated.  (MORE GLASS INFO TO COME...)
