Bartender Hall of Fame™ Inductee:  Forrest "Dew Drop" Morgan

Bartender Hall of FameForrest "Dew Drop" Morgan

A legend is a difficult title to hold but not for Forrest "Dew Drop" Morgan.

You can start being a legend by serving as a bombardier in B29s-not in one war but two-World War II and the Korean War, and being shot down behind enemy lines and making it back alive. Dew Drop was so grateful to his parachute, he had his wife's wedding dress made out of it.

The father of 13 children, Forrest (Dew Drop) Morgan was the U.S. Olympic Bobsled Manager for the United States Olympic Bobsled Teams from 1948-1960, (winning three world championships) and has been coaching as well as bobsledding all of his 80 years.

The answer to the questions, "Why do they call you Dew Drop?" Many, many years ago in a far distant life, someone said he was as fresh as a dewdrop. Now, many, many years later, he is still known as "Dew Drop" Morgan.

Forrest Dew Drop Morgan Dew Drop previously owned three different inns including one called the "13 Morgans" after his 13 children, and, naturally, "The Dew Drop Inn." After selling the Dew Drop Inn in the late 80s, Dew Drop tried retiring but bobsledding and playing poker were not enough. Seven years ago he decided to come out of retirement and began bartending at the Lake Placid Lodge and has been there ever since.
Lake Placid Lodge is one of the most beautiful luxury lakeside mountain resort hotels in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Fortune Magazine describes it as "Pure Adirondacks. Pure Bliss." The Lodge recreates the glory days of the late 1800s. You will experience the grandeur of the Adirondack Park on the outside and the outstanding service and luxury on the inside, plus Dew Drop at the bar.

You will receive not only outstanding cocktails from Dew Drop but also some great stories from a bartending and bobsledding legend. Dew Drop will tell you stories about Lake Placid Lodge, the Adirondacks, and the Olympics, but not any of his secret cocktail recipes unless you go there and maybe coach him a little.

When it comes to doing things on ice, Dew Drop loves both bobsledding and bartending and is a champion at both. Dew Drop Morgan a local and, now, national legend!
